Summer brings warm weather, vacations and interns
Cincinnati, Ohio – July 16, 2007 – It's summertime and college students across the country are scrambling to schmooze bosses and satisfy clients in hopes that their internships may turn into job offers upon graduation. Justice & Young Marketing and Public Relations has welcomed two new members to its team, in search of young, fresh ideas to aid both old and new accounts – a design intern from the prestigious Art Academy of Cincinnati, and a public relations intern from the renowned E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University.
Stephen Fulton is an upcoming junior at the Art Academy majoring in Fine Arts. He hopes to gain practical design experience before being fully immersed in the professional world. This summer, he will be designing for several accounts and has already become the go-to guy for computer issues.
"I have been given the opportunity and freedom to have my current interests filtered through the goals of each individual client," said Fulton. "There is nothing comparable to real-life experience when it comes to learning this business, and I could not ask for a more helpful and productive atmosphere to do this in."
Typically, J&Y hires only one summer intern, but have realized the importance of educating the emerging young talent pool that will someday lead the industry. The team at J&Y has embraced the opportunity to have a fresh ear and a keen eye around to come up with new, innovative ideas to marketing, public relations and design challenges.
"We believe that everyone has something to offer," said Dale Justice, partner. "Each member of our team brings a different skill to the table that they can pass on to the rest of us. We learn from our interns and our interns learn from us – it's a win-win situation."
Bridget Weber joined J&Y hoping to implement her current knowledge and gain some more on the way. She is an upcoming senior at OU majoring in journalism and specializing in public relations. Along with doing typical PR work, Weber wants to become involved in other aspects of the firm in order to expand her current level of skills and ultimately, her marketability.
"I want to get my hands in everything," said Weber. "What you learn in a classroom can only take you so far; then practical experience comes into play. I'm excited to be here and already feel like I'm part of the team."
