Voltage's Website Redesign, Advertising Campaign and Community Outreach
A key driver for Voltage's sales is getting potential buyers into its showroom. Voltage has a high closing rate once they get their target audience to experience the whole aura of a space using their furniture, lighting and accessories.

To that effect, Voltage has launched its newly designed website voltagefurniture.com representing a cleaner, simpler, and bolder look that reflects the modern European pieces on display at its Oakley showroom. The website strategy along with the corresponding advertising and marketing campaign is devised to drive customers to experience the inspired living spaces created by Voltage's well-versed staff of interior designers.

A complimentary strategy to get foot traffic into the showroom is Voltage's community outreach initiative. On February 24, Voltage hosted, "The After Dinner Party" to raise awareness and money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The resulting fundraiser drew 100 attendees, while raising $1,500 for Cystic Fibrosis research.

Voltage has also taken their showroom 'on the road'. In January, Voltage provided its interior design services, furniture, lighting and accessories for a condominium at Towne Properties latest downtown development, the Captain Watch. One attendee was so inspired at the open house, that he bought the furnished condominium as it was presented.

Voltage is located in the Voltage Lofts at 3209 Madison Road in Oakley.

What is Search Engine Optimization?
by Steve Phllips, President, Purple Trout, LLC
As published in the Business Courier, February 23, 2007

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of “optimizing” your website in order to obtain higher rankings in Google, Yahoo and other search engines. While some consider this a science or magic, it’s really a matter of following simple procedures to make your site more attractive to search engines. SEO includes writing fresh content with strong keywords to describe your company and products/services. In addition, unique page titles and descriptions need to be written for each page (don’t forget the Keywords meta tags, Alt tags and Header tags). Create a sitemap. Then, move on to the most important phase: link building. Obtaining links from other websites is a very critical – and never ending – phase of search engine optimization. All SEO projects should contain a strong link building program. By executing all of the necessary steps, your website will see some eventual results in search engines.

What Are the Most Costly Mistakes Companies Make in Creating Their Website?
by Dale Justice, Partner Justice & Young
As published in the Business Courier, February 23, 2007

1. Not owning your domain name. Effect: You don’t control your company’s name on the internet.
2. Using a website development/hosting company’s proprietary software. Effect: Your website is held hostage by the development/hosting company. Your website will function only if you continue to pay them, whatever they demand.
3. Not utilizing a proven Search Engine Optimization firm during the initial website development. Effect: Your website remains invisible because of poor search engine rankings.
4. Developing content with no CPOV (Customer Point of View). Effect: Your customer derives no value from visiting your website, never to visit again.
5. Dead Plant Syndrome. Effect: With no regular, valuable, and interesting fresh content, search engines stop searching and customers stop visiting. Your website is a dead plant in your lobby.
6. Poor database planning. Effect: Inability to add or remove products, adjust pricing, conduct special promotions or data mine customer information.
